Mobile Taskforce and GTasks Sync!

Just a quick update to tell you all that mobile Taskforce is now available, and you can also synchronize your Taskforce with GTasks. These are two updates that we are VERY excited about, meaning you can bring your tasks with you anywhere, and via GTasks put them in your GCal and sync too!

The mobile version is extremely simple to use and will allow task creation on the go, you can also check your list so you never forget what you've got going on! If you use Android, you can download Taskforce directly from the Marketplace, if you are on iOS please go to: Mobile - and once you are logged in (you'll need your API key from here) here's what you'll see:

You'll now be able to view your tasks on the go, add further tasks to your lists, and further sync them up with your GTasks!

The GTasks API is still new, but it will seamlessly sync tasks from Taskforce into GTasks and then subsequently into GCal! To set the sync up with GTasks, enter your account settings page here and select: "Enable two-way sync with Google Tasks."

Drag-and-Drop

You can now prioritize your tasks in whatever order you choose! Simply click the left edge of any task, and drag it wherever you'd like within the list.

Taskforce API

We've just introduced an API for Taskforce! Many of you have asked for the ability to port your tasks to other platforms, access them on your mobile, etc, and an API should help us move in that direction faster than ever. Also, if you're a developer considering using our API, you can find the documentation here. It's still a work in progress, so we'd love to hear your thoughts and work closely with you!

Lists, and Teams, and Bears, OH MY!

We've just released lists, an easy way to keep your tasks organized! This is an important stop on our journey to improve your life and make your inbox more manageable. We've been beta-testing it amongst ourselves for a few weeks now, and we're really excited to finally release to all of you.

So what exactly is a list, and how does it help?

A list is a powerful way to group related tasks together. Instead of putting all of your tasks in one gigantic list, you can create multiple lists, and organize your task far more efficiently.

Viewing_lists

For example, a programmer might have separate lists for bugs and features. As a sales rep, you might create lists for leads and accounts. As a GTD follower, you can have lists for waiting, next actions, etc. And, in the spirit of ease-of-use, a task can belong to multiple lists (just like labels in Gmail), so you never have to agonize over where to put a task.

But that's only the beginning! You can also share lists with your friends and colleagues! This works exactly how you'd expect, giving them access to any task that's added to the list. If the recipients are Taskforce users, they can interact with the tasks through the widget. If not, they can still interact with the tasks via email.

Sharing_a_list

We've found sharing lists amongst our team to be incredibly useful, and over the past few weeks it's helped us collaborate on work and even respond to the thousands of emails we get from you guys every week. We can't wait to see how you and your team use this feature, so please, send us some stories!

We released lists to everyone over the last week, so check it out and give us your feedback. And if you want to motivate us to keep it up, show us some love :)

Oh, and we promised bears in the title, didn't we? Well we wouldn't want to leave you empty-handed:

What's coming next from Taskforce? (suggestions welcome)

After our launch out of private beta, we've had a great reception from all of you; and over the last week we've been collecting your feedback, so we wanted to reassure you: Your calls have been heard!

Below is our road map:

Calendar Integration

This has been by far and away the most asked for feature. We intend to allow you to add tasks to your GCal, so you will be able to view them within your calendar as well, meaning you can consolidate all your appointments and tasks in one place!

Mobile

Another hugely popular request! (We really want this as well). A mobile app will allow you to access your tasks on the go, which will be incredibly useful for knowing what's on your list, knowing what others have shared with you, and creating new tasks. No more sending yourself reminder emails!

Organization and Prioritization

This has been asked in multiple ways, but we've aggregated it into a theme of prioritization. We have a few ideas around task lists, naming folders, that will definitely make it easier to organize your to-do list.

Thank you to everyone for the great response, and we appreciate the feedback, and do please keep it coming! You can email us directly: contact@taskforceapp.com or post here

If you haven't tried Taskforce yet, we encourage you to download it here. It will let you turn your inbox's into the to-do list it already is!

We're Taking on Apple

After requests from our users, we've decided to take on Apple... More specifically, Taskforce will now be available for Safari.

We have made some interesting discoveries around browser usage, by far and away the largest browser our users are using right now is Google Chrome (unsurprisingly!). But, for quite a while Safari was ahead of Firefox. Clearly, loyalty is stronger than other attributes! To reflect our strong following among Mac users, we have deployed a Safari version of our extension.

Screen_shot_2011-02-10_at_1

So now all you Mac users will be able to manage your inboxes, and stay organized with Taskforce: converting emails to tasks, sharing them with others, and delaying them till later.

You can download Taskforce here, and follow us on twitter here

Collaboration just got a lot easier, see how...

You can now share your Taskforce tasks with anyone! Simply convert a friend or colleague's email into a task, and indicate you'd like to work with them.

Whomever you share the task with will instantly be able to interact with it and update your Taskforce in real time. We'll keep collaborators up-to-date on the task via email, and they can add comments by simply replying from the comfort of their own inbox. This works for both Taskforce users and non-Taskforce users alike -- no more breaking from your normal workflow to work with people who don't use the same tools as you!

This all fits seamlessly into how you already use Taskforce. When someone comments via email, we help keep your inbox clean by putting their comment directly in your Taskforce, rather than forward the email to you. Thereby, getting to-do's out of your inbox, and making them much more collaborative, brief, and useful.

Below is a usage case of how, you are able to share tasks with non-Taskforce users, and still benefit from the ability to keep associated comments with the same task. Courtland is following up with me, as he still wants me to pay him for our bet on the superbowl:

Wheresmymoney

I've turned the email into a task and shared it with Courtland. This indicates I'm working on it, and that Courtland can add further comments by replying.

Dontconverttaskemail

Courtland has raised come concerns, which appeared instantly in my Taskforce. He never had to download Taskforce, and I never had to send an email.

Commentintaskforce

This process allows you and your collaborator to benefit from the organization power of a collaborative task manager, without ever having to leave your inbox. We're really excited about this addition to Taskforce, and we think it will dramatically change the way you are able to manage your workflow.

Dragging your widget!

We are introducing drag functionality to Taskforce today, so you will now be able to position your tasks wherever you like! This is particularly for our users in countries with alphabets that read from right to left, as we were covering rather important features within Gmail.

Below is a picture of what will be possible now with the widget:

Screen_shot_2011-02-07_at_11

From now on you'll be able to move the widget at your convenience, and in future we'll be adding further functionality so that you can tailor the widget even further to your needs: create tasks from emails, delay tasks, and share them with others.

If you haven't already downloaded Taskforce, you can sign up here, and follow us on twitter here, to hear about more updates.

(Wel)come back!

At Taskforce we've been working hard to get our most recent version totally up to scratch, and we think we are getting there...

So, we are going to start sending out invites to a select group of you who have expressed interest to get your feedback, and start engaging with you about what you like and don't like about the most recent version.

There are some really exciting features coming over the next few months, so expect to be pleasantly surprised, as we embark on this journey!

If you would like to take part in this stage of the product, please sign up here, and we'll be sending out invites periodically.

Thank you all for taking a look, and we are anxious to hear your feedback!
